Nancy Hoch, the visionary force in the development of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Nebraska City, was awarded Nebraska’s highest tourism award on October 22, 2015.

Nancy was presented the 2015 Henry Fonda Award by the Nebraska Tourism Commission,

“representing leadership, vision and dedication to the tourism industry”.

In addition to planning and developing the $6.5 million Lewis & Clark Center from the ground up, Nancy Hoch was the key factor in saving the Kregel Windmill Factory from demotion and laid the foundation for developing it into a nationally recognized museum.  She oversaw similar work in the refurbishment of the Historic Train Depot and the Morton James Public Library.

As an avid promoter of the Nebraska City area, Nancy developed Victorian streetscapes, the Nebraska City trolley system, the Red Fox Run Soccer Fields and tree planting projects to improve the first impression and quality of life in Nebraska City.

As an active supporter for economic development in her community, Hoch worked tirelessly as President of the River Country Economic Development Corporation on the creation of the Highway 2 Expressway, retention and growth of the Cargill Specialty Meats plant, creation of the VF Outlet Stores and Pendleton Outlet Store, expansion of the American Meter Company and recruitment of the Peru State College Technology Center.

As a public servant, she served on the UNL Board of Regents, the State Historical Society board, the National Historic Preservation board, was a founding board of the Nebraska Community Foundation and was active in many other organizations.

Nancy Hoch’s accomplishments throughout the years have continued to enhance Nebraska’s communities, making the state more attractive to visitors who come here from across the nation and from around the world and to the residents who live here.
