Exciting life sized authentic replicas of the keelboat as well as the White Pirogue
used by Lewis & Clark were featured in the IMAX film “Great Journey West”.

The keelboat, which is 55 feet long and 8 feet wide and the White Pirogue which is 32’ long and 8’ wide, are central education exhibits at the Lewis & Clark Center.  They provide the imaginary educational vehicles to help transport the visitor through the highly interactive rediscovery of the explorers’ remarkable journey on the great Missouri River.

The white pirogue in the Center exhibit will be a cutaway model.  Visitors will have a chance to learn how to row the pirogue upstream.  The keelboat is a discovery experience as an outside exhibit next to the Entrance sidewalk.  They view the cabin where the captains slept and kept their journals.
